Mentorship Award

The application period for the 2006 award year opens June 1, 2005 and closes August 31, 2005. All submissions must be postmarked ON or BEFORE August 31.

I founded this award because I see a need for mentorship opportunities for struggling writers. While it's nice to receive recognition for work well done, it's another thing entirely to develop not only your writing skills, but your selling skills as well. This award includes script consultation and bi-weekly phone conferences for a full year, plus other tools you need to be in the BUSINESS of screenwriting.

THE WRITER SELECTED FOR MENTORING WILL RECEIVE:

1: One full year of mentoring, provided by produced writer, Kimberly Seilhamer.

This mentoring includes and initial screenplay consultation on the submitted screenplay, plus two rewrite consultations on the same work. It also includes bi-weekly phone conferences (the writer must call). Topics covered will be dictated by the specific needs of the writer, but may include how to further improve the work, creative brainstorming, how to contact producers, what events to attend, goal setting, etc...

2: Professional screenwriting software provided by our wonderful sponsor, Write Brothers, Inc. The software includes Movie Magic Screenwriter, Dramatica Pro, and Storyview!

3: Signed copy of Dave Trottier's book, THE SCREENWRITER'S BIBLE.

4: Entry in the 4th Annual Screewriters Expo located in Los Angeles in October.

5: Subscription to Creative Screenwriting Magazine.

4: Robert McKee's book, STORY.

5: A one-year subscription to HCD ONLINE (Hollywood Creative Directory)

6: An online subscription to Variety and/or The Hollywood Reporter.
