"What
could be better than centering a plot on the fight of good vs. evil?
This script has it all-- from the love and romance, to the
martyrs and
heroes staking their lives on the quest for peace and justice,
to the
heartbreaking tragedy, death and despair. This is a big
story about a big
topic. I LOVED IT!" Sasha Lauren, Epiphany

Mark Hastings, judge, Project Greenlight: "This is
the best story, best
characters, most relevant work I have read. Rebirth
spans the bridge from
European classics to Hollywood high concept, and then reaches out
and
touches the heart and soul of the American Heartland. An outstanding
screenplay that just needs to get it in the right hands. To
me, Rebirth
trumps films that are predictable and gimmicky and inspires an
intelligent audience.”
Logline:
A womanizing artist uncovers more than the nudes he captures on canvas,
when he discovers the courage to face his fears and finds love that
changes his life. Based on a true story of the abuse of power versus the
power and honor of a few brave hearts.
Synopsis:
When the pursuit of knowledge threatens the powers that be, when tyranny
and intolerance are blessed-- the corruption explodes into the abuse of
absolute power when the villain, Duke De Guise, commits a mass murder of
innocents and is not arrested; but instead, greeted like a modern day bad
boy, cheered on through the streets of Paris. As tolerance fades and
tyranny grows... an unlikely hero emerges. Edmund Chastel, a pacifist and
humanist at heart, who finds courage to face his fears and love that
changes his life. This womanizing artist exchanges his brush for a sword
in a fight for liberty and life itself.
Edmund's transformation and motivation is partially based on his stand
against intolerance, facing the pain of his past, and his unexpected love
for an extraordinary young woman, Genevieve. Rebirth is based on a
provocative true story that ultimately inspires all who value integrity
and liberty of conscience. Rebirth is a passionate exploration of love,
loss and the celebration of a new beginning.
A unique, original and controversial screenplay, in the vein of: Casanova,
Braveheart, Ever After, and Kingdom of Heaven.
Gordy Hoffman from Bluecat writes: "This is the best written screenplay
that has come across my desk in weeks. Your concept is intelligent and you
didn’t sacrifice or water down sections to play easier for the reader. You
use it to create a mood and an atmosphere, instead of merely directing
your characters. Your action sequences are particularly good."
Sasha Lauren, Epiphany Scripts, "Your characters are multi-dimensional. We
got to meet Edmund "the hedonist"near the beginning of the script and then
you see him transformed by love and by following his heart in carrying out
his ideals.... It can be hard to get a project of this scale funded and
having a truly strong script is an absolute necessity-- and I believe that
you do."
